FAQ
1. What services are included in the villa rate?
Multiple airport transfers both ways, full-time private chef, daily breakfast, free 1 hour Balinese massage per guest (min 3 nights stay), 8-seater car & driver, fast wifi, drinking water, nighttime security. There will also be a garden and pool attendant during your stay.
Please see the full rate inclusions list under each villa on this website Our Villas
If you would like extra in-villa spa services, washing & ironing, babysitting, a yoga class or other items they can be arranged on request at extra cost. We have also helped guests with party planning and entertainment, birthday cakes and unique requests in the past.
2. Who arranges my transport from the airport?
Villas Direct Bali offers multiple airport transfers included in the villa rate and the driver(s) will meet you at the airport and drive you to your accommodation. After you have cleared immigration and collected your bags, look for the villa sign with your name on it. Rest assured we send enough cars and drivers for all your group and luggage.
3. What about local transport during our stay?
After you arrive to your villa, the villa rate includes an 8-seater car & driver for 8 hours a day excluding petrol for each full day at the villa. For check-in / check-out days, guests arriving at 2pm and checking out at 12 midday, the driver can work a half day for 4 hours if required. The team can also arrange larger vehicles for the whole group to travel in one vehicle at extra cost or an extra 8-seater car and driver will be an additional fee of around USD50 per day excluding petrol. Petrol is very cheap in Bali. Taxis are also easily arranged and affordable. Car seats are not required by law, and you may find taxis and hire cars even without seat belts. Scooter hire is also popular. We recommend extreme caution and never ever without a helmet. Public transport as such doesn’t really exist. We recommend downloading the Go-Jek or Grab app to arrange late night taxi transport in Bali. They are like Uber and cost effective and easy to use.
4. How does shopping and cooking work at the villa?
Daily breakfast and full-time private chef are included. The chef can do all your grocery shopping with receipts supplied with no mark-up (unlike most other large villas in Bali) saving you even more money. Menus are offered and the chef will take meal requests for lunches, dinners and snacks guests wish to have in the villa. The chef can cater to all tastes and dietary requirements. Gojek and Grab apps offer local food delivery services which are excellent.
5. Someone in our group has an allergy, what can be done in terms of dietary requirements at the villa?
We can discuss allergies in advance with the full-time private chef and staff and have hosted guests with nut, gluten or egg allergies. It is possible to brief the staff, but we also recommend you supervise food preparation to minimize risk. We can also arrange to purchase new pots and pans (at cost) that can only be used for you.
6. Will drinking water and pool towels be provided?
Yes safe drinking water will be provided at the villa.
The tap water is not safe to drink. Do not even rinse your toothbrush with it if you can avoid it. You can request that your children bottles can be washed in bottled water and sterilized in boiling water.
Linens, bath towels, pool towels and basic toiletries will be provided at the Villa.
7. How do I arrange my free 1-hour massage or other in-villa spa services?
For guests booking for minimum 3 nights, the popular free 1-hour Balinese massage can be booked pre-arrival. Alternatively, once you arrive at the villa, please give minimum 24 hours’ notice and services are subject to availability. We always try our very best to work to our guests’ schedules.
8. Are discounts available?
For stays of 7 nights or more, we apply a long-stay discount of 10%. We always offer the most competitive market rates. We also offer Last-Minute Booking rates for guests who can fill last-minute gaps in our calendar. The website will automatically calculate your discount during your search.
9. Are there minimum night stay requirements?
Yes, minimum night stay requirements apply. Generally speaking, they are 3 nights in low season and 5 to 7 nights in high and peak seasons. For Last Minute Bookings, this can often be 2 or even just 1 night’s minimum stay.
10. Can I have a late check-out or early check-in?
Generally speaking, check-in time is 2pm and check-out time is 12 noon. Guest schedules are of course accommodated wherever possible and we will communicate with you what is possible. A late check-out until 6pm is charged at 50% and 100% nightly rate for check-out after 6pm as many flights depart Bali in the evening. We have to block the villa calendar and can’t allow another booking on your check-out day. You can also store your luggage at the villa for the afternoon and return to collect before going to the airport for your departing flight. Similarly for early check-in before 2pm we charge 50% nightly rate as we have to block the calendar for the night before.
11. What about baby equipment, nannies and pool fences?
We can provide car seats for airport transfers, baby cots and high chairs at a small extra fee. The little things go a long way when travelling with children.
We can also help arrange stair gates and a pool fence if required which is an extra charge and based on the size of the pool and the system that best suits each property. An approximate guide is around USD25 to USD30 per day.
12. Can I arrange a special event or celebration in the villa (wedding, birthday, etc)?
Having a good time and celebrating with family is part of a great holiday! However, when it comes to entertaining outside guests or hosting a party with extra people who are not within the capacity requirements of the accommodation, permission is required. Event policies and extra fees may apply. Please discuss with us what you have in mind before inviting outside suppliers or groups of friends to the Villa.
13. Can children share beds?
There are strict capacity rules at all villas, and we need to know all guest numbers including children before arrival. Babies in cots or very young children under 2 years old sharing existing bedding with parents is permitted. Additional beds can be requested at additional charge.
14. Do we need travel visas to holiday in Bali?
Please check if you require a ‘Visa On Arrival’. Most passport holders must purchase a 30-day B1 Tourist Visa to enter Bali (extendable for another 30 days).
When you land at the airport in Bali, you need to go the ‘Visa-On-Arrival’ counter and purchase your tourist visa. After purchasing, you then join the line to go through the Immigration counter or E Gates towards baggage claim.
The visa can also be purchased in advance online via The Official eVisa website for Indonesia.
The current cost is IDR 500,000 per person for a 30-day tourist visa.
Please be sure you have a ticket arranged to leave Indonesia at the end of your stay and that your passport has a minimum of 6 months until expiry. It is the traveller’s responsibility to stay up to date with immigration and entry requirements to Indonesia.
15. Do you charge any fees?
We don’t charge any fees to help you plan your holiday. That’s right, you’ve got us to do all the research for you and help you plan your dream escape, and it will not cost you anything extra. As we have access to privileged rates and promotional offers for excursions and activities, your trip is often cheaper than when trawling through the internet yourself.
16. How do I make payment?
Depending on where your bank account is located, local bank transfer in your local currency may be allowed in major currencies like USD, AUD, Euro, SGD, etc. Please check with us. International bank transfer in USD or IDR is also available.
Other payment options are by credit card (4% service fee) or Paypal to Paypal account.
At the time of invoice, you will receive the total amount in USD or IDR along with your local currency equivalent if payment via local currency is possible.
We will require a 50% deposit to confirm reservations for arrival in the next 6 months at time of booking with the balance payment due just 30 days prior to your arrival.
For arrival more than 6 months from booking date, a 20% deposit and 3 stage payment option may be available. For last-minute stays, 100% payment will be required.
All details specific to your reservation will be outlined on your invoice at the time of confirmation.
17. I saw my villa available other places on the internet, why is this?
We own our villas and own the website ‘Villas Direct Bali’. The properties are also available through the major worldwide Online Travel Agents. We guarantee to offer the best rates booking direct with Villas Direct Bali. We have cost-effective payment options in various currencies with no hidden fees. We pride ourselves on offering complimentary services and equipment to our clients and are here to help along the way. You will get value-added services when you book with us.
18. Does the villa have insurance in case of an accident or theft?
Villas Direct Bali recommends all guests to take out appropriate travel insurance to cover themselves in the event of accident, illness or theft. You stay at all properties at your own risk, however of course measures are taken by management to prevent any problems during your stay. All villas have safes in all bedrooms as well as night-time security for your extra safety.
19. Is Bali safe for children?
Of course, any travel with children involves risk and Indonesia is not a Western country as many of us are accustomed to. We can only say that as parents we all must follow our own instincts as to what is right and wrong for our own families. In recent years the infrastructure and medical system has vastly improved, however, all visitors must take precautions and be respectful of the Island’s limitations. We do our best to help families travelling with children safely enjoy their stay. Don’t drink the tap water, avoid street food if sensitive, wear sunscreen, hire a pool fence and/or nanny who can swim and be careful with your transport options. Comprehensive Travel insurance is a must too!
20. Should I bring local currency from home?
There are many bank ATMs in Bali so withdrawing cash in local IDR currency is easy. Many fixed price shops and restaurants accept debit and credit card payments. Tap or Paywave is becoming more common but not always available so we recommend bringing a physical ATM card also.
21. What are the dates for seasonal rates
Each year seasonal dates for low, high and peak season rates may change. Generally speaking, High Season covers Easter, mid-June – August, Chinese New Year, Idul Fitri/Eid with Peak Season covering the Christmas / New Year’s Eve period.
22. What if we have questions during our stay?
At the villa you will meet the villa staff as well as one of my Villas Managers who works across our villas liaising with guests to ensure they have a great stay. They will be on hand for day-to-day questions. Villas Direct Bali can be contacted during your stay by phone, Whatsapp or email if you need any assistance. We want your holiday to be a truly exceptional and memorable experience. Contact Us
23. What is the cancellation policy? Can I modify my reservation date?
You can cancel or amend the reservation dates more than 60 days prior to arrival with just a 10% Admin Fee of total reservation value.
Your travel insurance policy may cover loss in the event you cannot travel, depending on your reasons for cancellation. We advise you also take out cancellation insurance in addition to standard travel insurance to assist with reimbursements should your travel plans change for any reason.
24. What items should I bring from home?
You can buy most essential (and non-essential items) in Bali.
For young families, we recommend bringing with you Milk Formula if your baby is accustomed to a particular variety.
You can buy cheese, yogurt and regular pasteurised milk as well as fresh produce readily but rusks, corn cakes, muesli bars, fruit bars and sugar free toddler snacks are not easy to locate. Nappies can be purchased easily, however, we recommend bringing a supply of quality Huggies or similar for nighttime use as they are more absorbent than the locally available product.
Due to Government taxes alcohol purchased within Indonesia is 50% or more expensive than in most countries and there is also a limited selection. If you would like to enjoy the wine, champagne or spirits of your choice during your stay, we recommend bringing a bottle with you from your home country or duty free when in transit. Visitors to Indonesia are permitted to bring 1 litre of alcohol into the country per adult visitor.
Please let us know if you have questions about any particular item.
25. What is the electrical current in Bali and do I need to bring travel adaptors?
Bali sockets for charging phones and other devices are in a Type C or Type F European style with two entirely round pins (and the Type F has clips on the side for Earthing) and 230V. We recommend bringing a travel adapter for your electrical appliances. You can purchase international adaptors at most airports and also ask behind the counter at some convenience stores in Bali. The villa will have some available also.
26. Is there any music speaker at the villa?
Yes, we provide a Bluetooth speaker at each villa which you can connect to your device.
